Today, a recipe for a dessert: water cake with apples and cocoa.
The water cake is a lighter and softer version of the classic cake, as it doesn’t contain eggs, milk, or butter!
A cake that remains beautifully moist inside with an overwhelming taste and aroma.
The water cake with apples and cocoa is a great breakfast dessert also suitable for those following a vegan diet.
I made it using annurca apples, but you can also replace them with golden apples or delicious pears.
With apples, you can create many recipes from the most classic apple cake to a delightful crumble with panettone.
Let’s see together, step by step, how to make this recipe!

Let’s Prepare the Water Cake with Apples and Cocoa Together
Prepare the ingredients by placing the oil and water in one bowl and the flour, baking powder, cocoa, and sugar in another.
Emulsify the liquids, then gradually add the sifted dry ingredients and mix with a spatula.
Wash the apples and cut them into small pieces (I left the peel on, but if you don’t like it, you can peel them). Remember to leave half an apple to place on top as decoration.
Add the apples to the previous mixture and stir.
Grease and flour a bundt cake pan
Pour the batter into it and decorate with the apple slices
Bake at 356°F for 30 minutes. Always do the toothpick test before removing from the oven; insert a toothpick in the center of our water cake with apples and cocoa, and if it comes out dry and clean, it’s ready. Let it cool slightly, then remove from the pan, and when it’s cold, sprinkle with powdered sugar (optional).
