Almond and Sicilian Orange Cake

Almond and Sicilian Orange Cake. Obviously, no one can resist the aroma of a freshly baked cake that smells like home. Cakes bring moments of joy both to those who receive them and give them, but especially to those who eat them. The heart of this star-shaped almond and Sicilian orange cake has a very soft surprise, apples. Naturally, in the kitchen, there are no limits to creativity, and today I wanted to combine two types of cakes; almond cake and apple pie. Sometimes something very good is born thanks to what you have at home. I’ve never kept my love for fruit a secret, and whenever I can, I use it in my dishes. https://blog.giallozafferano.it/vaipinacucina.

CHRISTMAS 2020

This will be a very low-key Christmas 2020, but let’s not lose heart and remember that resilience is key. Each of us has a role to play, which is to help others as we can. I try to do that in my own small way with my recipes. I know the web is full of recipes, but I also know that each of you chooses whom to follow and what to make. Let’s share a virtual hug and cook, cook a lot, maybe even try my recipes… Thank you, it’s been a year of growth for me, and I owe it to you. Merry Christmas to all

  • Can I replace the almonds with hazelnuts?

Yes, of course. Replacing the hazelnuts instead of almonds does not change the dessert significantly, maybe just a bit in flavor.

My name is Pina, and my passion is food and cooking in general. On the blog, I focus on regional dishes like those from my birthplace, Sicily. I also feature dishes from Lazio, the region that has hosted me for over 40 years, but in general, I cover all Italian regions. Traveling and exploring is my second passion, so I couldn't leave out dishes from around the "World" on my blog. My blog is divided into simple and essential sections like appetizers, first courses, main courses, side dishes, bread and leavened products, jams and preserves, wines and wineries, and of course, travels. Desserts are included, and finally, there is a dedicated corner for gluten-free options. Easy recipes, explained step by step and always updated.
