Chocolate Brownie

Dark chocolate brownie as good as it gets. Chocolate is, without a doubt, the most loved and desired food by women, always an undisputed protagonist whether it’s simple like mousse, a very soft chocolate cream, or elaborate like the Sacher torte, to name just one. It stimulates the production of serotonin, the mood hormone, and that’s why it helps fight depression. It also contains a substance found in coffee, which helps us stay alert and awake. But the nice thing is that it makes us cheerful thanks to a precious element, anandamide, which fittingly means happiness. You’ve surely tasted or prepared brownies before, a truly easy and quick dessert to make, and even if it can be stored for a week, I think it won’t last beyond the second day. The name of this American dessert refers to their brown appearance, given by the chocolate itself.

Ingredients to prepare the chocolate brownie

  • 5.3 oz dark chocolate
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips

Tools to prepare the Brownies

  • Aluminum Pan
  • Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Spatula
  • Parchment Paper

Steps to prepare the chocolate brownie

  • Melt the dark chocolate and butter, place the bowl with the chocolate in the microwave for 3 minutes and then add the butter for another minute. Another method is to melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler. Let it cool slightly and incorporate the eggs with the sugar, the unsweetened cocoa with the flour. Line a square baking pan with soaked and wrung parchment paper (not having a square pan, I used an aluminum pan) or simply spray a non-stick agent and dust the pan with cocoa. Pour the mixture and level it with a spatula, bake it in a static oven at 350°F for 25 minutes.

Notes

The Brownie originated in Chicago. Bertha Palmer commissioned easy-to-make and easy-to-keep sweets since the celebrations were taking place around the city and thus had to have specific characteristics. Even today, these delightful sweet breakfasts can be found in students’ backpacks.
