Lemon Iced Tea

Lemon iced tea, it seems easy to prepare but it is not at all, dosing and balancing the right amounts of lemon, sugar, and tea is a task for professionals like, just to name an example, the Japanese where this is the most consumed drink, even more than water for them it is precisely tea and naturally without sugar and strictly green tea, they love to flavor it with flowers. I prepared the tea with one bag and a cup of water, the right measure per person. I also use green tea a lot, I prefer it for its delicacy and flavor, but especially for its properties, first of all, it has a purifying action, fights free radicals by eliminating toxins, and more. After harvesting, green tea is treated with steam and this, in addition to not oxidizing, maintains its beautiful green color. But the most beloved tea in Japan remains Bancha, a second harvest of green tea, therefore with less caffeine, perhaps less prized but equally much loved.

Ingredients

  • 4.23 cups water
  • 5 bags green tea
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 lemon (juice)
  • 2 cubes lemon juice

Tools

  • Small Pot
  • Pitcher
  • Lemon Squeezer

Steps

  • I always prepare plenty of lemon iced tea, I discovered that it keeps perfectly for three days in the refrigerator without altering the taste.

  • I boil some water in a small saucepan, as soon as it reaches a simmer, I pour it into the pitcher over the tea bags.

  • I let it steep for 7 minutes, green tea needs more time.

  • After the time has passed, I add the sugar, usually one tablespoon per bag plus one more.

  • If I drink the tea hot, then I also add the juice of one squeezed lemon.

  • To prepare the cold lemon tea, I add 2 ice cubes of previously prepared lemon juice stored in the freezer. I include the link if anyone wants to prepare it. It cools the tea quickly and adds flavor to the taste.

  • I put the lemon iced tea in an airtight bottle and store it in the refrigerator for several days.

My name is Pina, and my passion is food and cooking in general. On the blog, I focus on regional dishes like those from my birthplace, Sicily. I also feature dishes from Lazio, the region that has hosted me for over 40 years, but in general, I cover all Italian regions. Traveling and exploring is my second passion, so I couldn't leave out dishes from around the "World" on my blog. My blog is divided into simple and essential sections like appetizers, first courses, main courses, side dishes, bread and leavened products, jams and preserves, wines and wineries, and of course, travels. Desserts are included, and finally, there is a dedicated corner for gluten-free options. Easy recipes, explained step by step and always updated.
