Oven-Baked Sautéed Mushrooms

Oven-baked sautéed mushrooms, also known as button mushrooms and champignons, are highly regarded and widely used in kitchens around the world, probably because they are extensively cultivated and available all year round, eliminating the risk of poisonous varieties. They have very few calories, very little fat, and zero cholesterol, making them a favorite in cooking even though the king of mushrooms is the porcini. It’s certainly easier to purchase them since the harvesting of porcini or honey mushrooms, rather than Caesar’s mushrooms, is regulated.

Ingredients

  • 10.6 oz champignon mushrooms
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1.5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley
  • to taste salt

Tools

  • Baking tray
  • Parchment paper

Steps

  • Today I prepared oven-baked sautéed mushrooms. I think it has happened to you too to buy them already sliced and cleaned, but still I washed them quickly in a container with water, just dipped and immediately removed, they should never be left to soak as they would absorb too much water.

  • On the baking tray with parchment paper, I placed the mushrooms with chopped parsley and halved garlic, salt, and EVO oil. I mixed all the ingredients well and baked them for 20 minutes at 374°F.

  • And here they are ready for a tasty side dish. If you like, you can also add some spicy chili peppers.

  • Serve the oven-baked sautéed mushrooms with more fresh chopped parsley on top.

FAQ

  • How can you tell if a mushroom is fresh?

A fresh mushroom is neither dehydrated nor swollen with water, should not have an unpleasant odor, and the flesh should not be dark or blemished.

  • How long do mushrooms keep in the fridge?

Cultivated mushrooms don’t need to be stored for long as they are always available. It’s best to cook them immediately after purchase while they’re still very fresh.

My name is Pina, and my passion is food and cooking in general. On the blog, I focus on regional dishes like those from my birthplace, Sicily. I also feature dishes from Lazio, the region that has hosted me for over 40 years, but in general, I cover all Italian regions. Traveling and exploring is my second passion, so I couldn't leave out dishes from around the "World" on my blog. My blog is divided into simple and essential sections like appetizers, first courses, main courses, side dishes, bread and leavened products, jams and preserves, wines and wineries, and of course, travels. Desserts are included, and finally, there is a dedicated corner for gluten-free options. Easy recipes, explained step by step and always updated.
