Rustic meat swirls, a main course served in an unusual way, ideal not only for children but also appreciated by adults. Usually, I buy a whole cut of meat, which I then personally grind to the desired size using my stand mixer with all its accessories for any function. I mention this to explain that I usually add a couple of carrots to my mixture for grinding because during cooking it releases that orange color I particularly love. Not to mention the benefits of carrots that everyone already knows. I wanted to prepare a meat dish that wasn’t the usual meatballs or meatloaf, and since I always have puff pastry at home for any eventuality, I decided to combine the two to make my main dish different and tasty, especially since I have kids over for lunch today.

Ingredients
- 9 oz ground beef
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 egg
- 2/3 oz Parmesan cheese
- 1 oz breadcrumbs
- 1 carrot
- 1 clove garlic
- to taste chopped parsley
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Tools
- Bowl
- Skewers long
- Baking Tray
- Stand Mixer
Steps
Prepare the ground beef and together chop the carrot with the parsley and garlic clove. But if you want to skip this step, buy pre-ground meat and chop the carrot and seasonings at home. Add the egg, Parmesan, salt, and breadcrumbs to the mixture. Mix until it becomes a homogeneous and smooth mixture.
Unroll the rectangular puff pastry and spread the seasoned ground meat on top with a spatula.
Cut the puff pastry spread with meat in half lengthwise, forming two small rectangles.
Cut into strips and roll them with the meat inward to form swirls.
Secure the rustic meat swirls with long skewer sticks. Place parchment paper on the baking tray, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, place the swirls on top, and drizzle more oil on top. Bake them in the oven at 375°F for 20 minutes.
And here they are, ready to be served hot, with or without sticks.
