Ingredients

  • 1 cup cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 6 tbsp tbsp butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 vial vanilla essence

Tools

  • Rolling Board
  • Rolling Pin
  • Mat

Steps

  • Place the flour and sugar on the rolling board, mix and add the cold butter cut into pieces. Blend with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs, make a well in the center and add the egg and vanilla essence. Form a ball and divide it in half. In one half of the shortcrust pastry, add the unsweetened cocoa powder, then wrap both doughs separately in cling film, and let them rest in the refrigerator for at least half an hour. After the time has passed, take the two doughs and form cords, arrange five of them alternating the two colors, and after flattening them slightly with the rolling pin, cut the cookies three centimeters apart from each other. You can also form circles with half white dough and half chocolate. Bake in the oven at 350°F for 30 minutes.

  • Here are the ready-to-eat two-tone shortcrust pastry cookies.

My name is Pina, and my passion is food and cooking in general. On the blog, I focus on regional dishes like those from my birthplace, Sicily. I also feature dishes from Lazio, the region that has hosted me for over 40 years, but in general, I cover all Italian regions. Traveling and exploring is my second passion, so I couldn't leave out dishes from around the "World" on my blog. My blog is divided into simple and essential sections like appetizers, first courses, main courses, side dishes, bread and leavened products, jams and preserves, wines and wineries, and of course, travels. Desserts are included, and finally, there is a dedicated corner for gluten-free options. Easy recipes, explained step by step and always updated.
