Donuts are very popular with children, and if we can make them at home in no time, it adds extra value to everything.
In very little time, you can prepare these soft and light donuts, which, decorated with colored sugar, will make children’s snacks or school breakfast joyful
They were once a dream, behind the bakery and pastry shop windows, children with their noses pressed against them admiring the colorful and sugary donuts…
It was Hanson Gregory around 1850 who prepared the first fried dough for donuts with a central hole precisely because he thought that way the center would remain well-cooked.
It is said that donuts come from a Dutch dessert “oliebollen” which means oil balls.
In Spain, in 1962, the Donuts Corporation was created to produce sugar-glazed donuts
The donut in question is not a leavened dough, I needed a quick leavening to cook immediately, for a party, so I decided to bring my sweet and sugary donuts to life…
I had already bought the Amazon molds to bake donuts to give to my nephew and to prepare with him during his visits.
A very quick and practical recipe, you put all the ingredients together in the mixer and knead until you get a fine and homogeneous mixture
In a few minutes they are cooked and with a little powdered sugar, they can be glazed in all colors, or decorated in the center with buttercream or chocolate or mascarpone

Ingredients
It seems strange, but when we have flour, butter, and sugar at home… And some eggs, we can bake many treats…
- 4 cups cups all-purpose flour
- 5.6 oz oz butter
- 1 cup cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup cup sugar
- 1 package package baking ammonia
- 8.8 oz oz 50% dark chocolate
- 1/2 cup cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup cup apricot jam
Tools
Ideally, you should have a stand mixer, but electric beaters are also fine… You will then need the donut molds… I had some batter left over and made muffins filled with jam
Steps
Knead, whip the dough, and bake… Then have fun decorating
Combine all ingredients in the stand mixer or a bowl to be whipped with beaters, except for the cream, chocolate, and jam. First mix, then whip until a fine, slightly foamy, and homogeneous mixture is obtained.
Transfer the mixture into a piping bag and turn on the oven, setting it to 356°F
While the oven heats, place the batter in the molds, I have 18, the rest I made muffins… Bake until golden brown, to be sure, do the toothpick test.
Remove and place on a rack; if you don’t have a rack, use the oven grates as I do, they are perfect.
Chop the chocolate into flakes and add the cream, heat in the microwave for a minute, begin to mix, you will obtain a smooth and homogeneous cream
With the help of a piping bag, decorate the donuts… You can make stripes and then sprinkle them with powdered sugar
Or cover them and decorate with colored sprinkles
Having made muffins, I hollowed them in the center and added a teaspoon of jam, decorated then with chocolate and powdered sugar
It’s a crumbly and very soft dough, I’d say it melts in your mouth, with the jam it’s delicious!
They can be stored at room temperature, even in the freezer, to be heated for a few seconds when needed
You can also decorate with sugar glaze, I don’t have photos now, I’ll do them next time, they are destined to be little gifts…
