BANANA SPLIT fruit and ice cream dessert, a quick and easy American recipe from the ’90s, ideal as a snack or perfect after dinner, fresh and delightful.

Have you ever made a banana split? It’s a classic American dessert, with ‘split’ referring to the banana cut in half, served in a dedicated oval dish, filled with a variety of ice cream flavors, as you like, and served as a dessert.

I’ve always been curious about the banana split recipe, so I decided to make it as a dessert after dinner. Not having ice cream on hand, I used cream and enriched it with Nutella, pistachio cream, and strawberries.

It was enjoyed, it’s pleasant, definitely very caloric, but every now and then you can try it, maybe this summer by varying with ready-made ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 banana
  • 1 1/4 cups whipping cream
  • 1 3/4 oz strawberries
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 0.7 oz pistachio cream
  • 0.7 oz Nutella®
  • chopped pistachios
  • grated coconut

Steps

  • Whip the cream and divide it into 3 bowls, refrigerate.

  • Cut the strawberries into pieces and put them in a small saucepan with the sugar, cook over low heat for a few minutes and let cool.

  • Cut the banana in half lengthwise and place it on a plate if you don’t have the appropriate tray.

  • Take the cream from the fridge and add the different fillings, set aside some strawberry syrup and mix well.

  • At this point, you’ll need 3 disposable pastry bags and 3 star tips of 2 cm, I only had one so I used it only for the pistachio.

  • Fill the center of the banana by alternating the fillings, decorate with strawberries and syrup, chopped pistachios, Nutella drizzles, and grated coconut.

  • Refrigerate for 30 minutes before serving.
