Bread basket appetizer centerpiece for holidays
  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Very Cheap
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast for savory preparations

Steps

  • Pour the flour into a bowl or the robot, add the optional yeast, oil, and water, mix well.

  • Take the dough and work it a bit on the work surface to make it smoother, then roll it out with a rolling pin to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

  • Place the dough on an inverted baking sheet of 8-9 inches lined with parchment paper and let it drape down the sides until it reaches the work surface.

  • Pinch the dough with your thumb and index finger along the edge and fold the dough forward, continue counterclockwise, backward, this is just to create an edge for the basket, otherwise leave it straight, it’s not a problem.

  • No need to be precise, the irregularity of the edge is perfect as it will come out once baked.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 355°F-375°F for 10 minutes, it should lightly brown, remove and take it off the baking sheet, place it on the baking tray and return to the oven for another 10 minutes (about 7-8 minutes more or less)

  • Remove from the oven, let it cool before filling, I recommend placing a bed of arugula or lettuce at the bottom especially if you will fill it in advance with mozzarella or other fresh cheeses or seasoned vegetables.

  • Great also if you want to use it for various snacks or appetizers or bread sheets and HERE you can find many ideas always adding a bit of arugula for color.

    Bon appétit
