The recipe for the classic English trifle dessert is very simple and quick to make, it is perfect if you are looking for something good to make in a short time.
The peculiarity of this dessert is primarily the name which has nothing to do with England.
There are two hypotheses about its creation, one dating back to the 16th century according to which it is the transformation of an English dessert, the trifle, and the other seems to have been created by a governess of an English family living in Tuscany, creating a dessert with biscuits soaked in rosolio, but many Italian regions claim its creation, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Lazio, and Marche.

Ingredients
- 2 cups milk
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 5 tbsps all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsps unsweetened cocoa powder
- 8 ladyfingers (or sponge cake)
Preparation
Work the yolks with the sugar and mix well with the whisks.
Heat the milk and add it slowly to the yolks, always mixing with the whisks.
Add the flour little by little, always mixing.
As soon as it becomes firm, divide it into two parts and add the cocoa to half of the cream and mix it well.
Put water and a bit of sugar on the stove, let it dissolve, turn off the heat, and add the Alchermes.
Mix and use it to soak the biscuits.
Make a first layer of biscuits in an 8-inch (20 cm) baking dish, cover it with the chocolate cream.
Make another layer of biscuits and one of pastry cream, decorate with chocolate chips.
