I wanted a cold, delicious dessert that could be prepared in no time, and I had a block of whipping cream staring at me from the fridge… in the pantry, leftover sandwich bread. That’s how this sandwich bread roll with Nutella and cream was born, a simple, no-bake dessert, ready in 10 minutes and perfect in summer, but always good!

The beauty of this recipe is that it’s made with ingredients we almost always have at home: sliced bread, Nutella, fresh cream and if you want to enrich it, you can also add chopped hazelnuts, chocolate flakes, or fresh fruit.

Perfect as a fridge dessert, summer snack for kids, or even to bring to a dinner with friends if you’re short on time. You can prepare it in advance and keep it in the fridge, the roll stays soft and super creamy.

Try it also with mascarpone, or with marmalade or pistachio cream if you want to change the flavor. It’s a quick alternative to the classic cold cake or semifreddo.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices sliced bread
  • 5.3 oz Nutella®
  • 0.85 cups plant-based whipping cream

Steps

  • Place the sandwich bread on the surface, overlap the two slices and flatten with a rolling pin.

  • Whip the cream with electric beaters or a hand blender and set aside.

  • Spread the Nutella on the bread, add the cream and roll up.

  • Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour, then decorate with Nutella, shredded coconut, or chopped hazelnuts and serve.
