I wanted something sweet but without turning on the oven and without spending hours in the kitchen, so these cream-filled turnovers were born, a clever recipe that can be prepared in a few minutes and pleases everyone. Crispy on the outside, creamy inside, perfect when you want a quick dessert for breakfast, a snack, or even after dinner.

These sweet turnovers in an air fryer are ideal if you have little time or want a lighter alternative to classic frying. You prepare them with few ingredients, a quick shortcrust pastry without butter, fill them with custard (even leftover) and in less than 10 minutes, you have an aromatic and delicious dessert.

CREAM-FILLED TURNOVERS

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour (the one you usually use)
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tbsps sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • custard (orange-flavored)

Steps

  • Pour the flour into a bowl, add the baking powder, sugar, oil, egg, and then mix well. Gradually add the water and knead thoroughly.

  • Prepare the classic custard or this orange one, let it cool in a bowl covered with cling film.

  • Take the dough and roll it out on a floured work surface, cut it with a glass, and fill the center with the cream.

  • Fold into a half-moon, seal the edges, and place the sweet turnovers in the air fryer basket. Cook at 356°F for 4 minutes, then turn them over and cook for another 3-4 minutes.

  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve.
