Today I’ll tell you how this quick and delicious recipe came about. I had my son’s friends coming over last minute, dinner was ready, but I needed something to munch on with the aperitif. In the pantry, only flour, oil, and in the fridge, a pack of bacon that I absolutely needed to use.
So I improvised these breadsticks with bacon without yeast, super quick, cooked in the air fryer in a few minutes. Way better than the store-bought ones! The basic dough is very simple: flour, water, oil, oregano, and diced bacon. No waiting for rising: prepare, shape, and cook right away.
In the air fryer, they become crispy on the outside and flavorful on the inside, perfect also as a rustic appetizer for a dinner with friends or to bring to a picnic.
You can enrich them with rosemary, Parmesan, or sesame seeds before baking. Or wrap them and leave them in the fridge until ready to cook.

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 2.8 oz sweet bacon
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Steps
Pour the flour into a bowl, add the oil, water, oregano, and bacon, and work the dough well.
Make a ball and let it rest for 30 minutes if you have time.
After the time has passed, take the dough and divide it into 20 pieces, make into sticks, place them in the fryer lined with paper, brush with oil, and cook at 392°F for 8 minutes.
Turn them and cook for about another 7 minutes.
