FLATTENED HAZELNUT AND NUTELLA TART

FLATTENED HAZELNUT AND NUTELLA TART, an easy and quick shortcrust pastry dessert that’s ready in no time, with the aroma of a leisurely breakfast and a delightful snack. Creamy inside, crunchy outside, with all the goodness of Nutella that melts during baking and that touch of toasted hazelnuts that makes it simply irresistible.

Today I was craving something sweet, but not something complicated with a thousand steps. You know those days when you need a treat? Exactly. I open the pantry, see the Nutella, then the hazelnuts… and the idea comes naturally: a flattened tart – because yes, it’s not the usual tart! It closes like a shortcrust sandwich and hides a creamy and fragrant layer of hazelnut cream inside.

The dough is a soft shortcrust, rolled into two thin discs: one at the base, one on top, and in between, a generous layer of Nutella and chopped hazelnuts. In the oven, it becomes golden and crumbly, with a filling that remains melted and irresistible. The best part is it takes just 10 minutes, without any resting or complications — perfect when you want a breakfast dessert at the last minute or a “wow” snack without much effort.

I often make it on Sunday mornings when I crave something delicious but don’t want too much kneading. It’s eaten warm, when the Nutella is still creamy, or cold, accompanied by a cappuccino or hot tea. It’s one of those recipes that save the day: little effort, maximum result.

And let’s be honest: who can resist the combination of hazelnuts + Nutella? It’s the ultimate comfort food.

Delicious tip: if you want an even crunchier version, add coarsely chopped hazelnuts on top before baking. Or mix a tablespoon of cocoa in the dough for an even more chocolatey shortcrust.
