Homemade Hazelnut Spread

Ingredients

  • 5 tbsp vegetable margarine (or butter)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3.5 oz chocolate
  • 2.8 oz hazelnuts
  • 1/4 cup milk

Steps

  • Toast the hazelnuts for a few minutes, I used them with the skins but you can remove them if you prefer.

  • Melt the chocolate in pieces with the butter and milk in a double boiler.

  • Then grind the hazelnuts with the sugar, both brown and granulated, add the cocoa, and lastly the milk with the chocolate.

  • Mix well, pour into jars, and refrigerate. If you prefer it softer, add another 20 ml of milk; for a smooth version, finely grind the sugar with the hazelnuts.

  • You can choose to use milk or dark chocolate, I have always used dark chocolate.
