Italian-style Appetizer, a recipe for parties and buffets, for a meat menu to be made in a few minutes.
The Italian-style appetizer is the classic appetizer made of cold cuts, cheeses, and olives. Obviously, everyone personalizes it in their own way with the addition of other ingredients.
It is usually served on cutting boards or plates to be placed in the center of the table. I prepared this Italian-style appetizer simply with buffalo mozzarella, mortadella, olives, and cherry tomatoes.
I could have chosen from many other cold cuts, but since there are also children for lunch, I went for a classic that can be enjoyed by the little ones as well.
There is no real recipe or precise doses because, obviously, not everyone eats with the same appetite, but more or less those 80-100 g per person are an average.
Furthermore, everything also depends on the rest of the lunch or dinner. If the dishes are abundant or particularly heavy, the appetizer is lighter and vice versa.
If a light lunch or dinner is expected, a slightly heavier appetizer is chosen, at least that’s how it is at my house.
Follow me in the kitchen; today there’s the Italian-style appetizer.
- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Very economical
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 5
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 10 oz Mortadella with pistachios
- 0.5 cup Black olives
- 2 cups Cherry tomatoes
- Arugula
- 1.1 lbs Buffalo mozzarella
Preparation
I prepared small skewers, so you need some toothpicks.
Wash the arugula and cherry tomatoes thoroughly and dry them.
Cut the mortadella into pieces about an inch in size and do the same with the buffalo mozzarella.
Skewer a cherry tomato, then a piece of buffalo mozzarella, a piece of mortadella, and an olive.
Arrange them on a serving plate over a bed of arugula.
Place more mortadella in the center, and at this point, you can decide whether to add a drizzle of balsamic vinegar or let the guests decide.
Bon appétit
