FAQ (Questions and Answers) KOKOSMAKRONEN German coconut Christmas macarons

  • Is it possible to make Kokosmakronen without the wafer base?

Yes! The wafers are optional and only serve to provide a firmer base for the cookies. If you don’t have them, you can form the Kokosmakronen directly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • How do you store them?

Store them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. They will stay fresh for about 1 week. If you want to store them longer, you can freeze them: just thaw at room temperature before serving.

  • Can I add extra ingredients to the mixture?

Absolutely! You can customize the Kokosmakronen by adding chocolate chips, chopped almonds, or grated lemon/orange zest for a fresh touch. You can also partially dip them in melted dark chocolate after baking to make them even more delicious.
