Join me in the kitchen today, there’s the mille-feuille of Carnival fritters with Nutella!
- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Very economical
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 6
- Cooking methods: Stovetop
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 pinch vanillin
- to taste lemon zest (optional)
Steps
Pour the flour with the baking powder and vanillin into a bowl, add the butter in pieces, and if preferred, also the grated lemon or orange zest.
Knead well to combine all the ingredients, then roll out the dough on a floured board and cut into squares or diamonds about 4 inches wide.
Fry in hot oil heated in a pot or high-sided pan and drain on kitchen paper.
To prevent the pieces from puffing up like balloons, I recommend not rolling the dough too thin or avoiding the baking powder.
Drain on kitchen paper and place a sheet on the serving plate, fill with Nutella, cover with another sheet, and repeat for a total of 3 sheets per mille-feuille.
Finally, dust with powdered sugar and serve.
Bon appétit
