Potato Crostini Appetizer for Christmas with Ham

A simple recipe that I really liked and have proposed in different ways, potato crostini are a delicious Christmas appetizer that will amaze everyone.

I will also prepare them, probably in advance, because unfortunately I never have enough time; I freeze them so I can defrost and reheat them for the occasion.

Potato canapés for Christmas appetizer with ham

Ingredients

  • 9 oz Potatoes
  • 3 slices Cooked Ham
  • 9 slices Cheese Slices
  • 9 Black Olives

Preparation

  • Wash the potatoes thoroughly to remove any dirt, then peel and cut them into chunks.

  • Boil them in lightly salted water for about 10 minutes after the water starts boiling.

  • Drain them well and mash with a potato masher.

  • Gather the puree in a bowl, salt and pepper to taste, and mix well.

  • Take about a tablespoon of puree, form a ball, then flatten it in the palm of your hand, place it on a cutting board and cut it with a 2-inch star-shaped cutter.

  • You’ll get about 9; dip them first in beaten egg on a plate, then in breadcrumbs, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • Drizzle with oil and bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for about 10 minutes.

  • Have the ham cut a little thicker and cut it with the star cutter, do the same with the cheese slices.

  • Remove the stars from the oven, garnish with a cheese slice and ham, return to the hot oven for a few minutes if serving immediately.

  • Pit the olives, crumble them with your hands, and decorate the stars.
