PUFF PASTRY BASKETS WITH OCTOPUS SALAD, parmesan flakes, and arugula, a tasty appetizer for a seafood menu, simply delicious.
The puff pastry baskets with octopus salad are a refined and tasty option, perfect for those who wish to impress guests with an original appetizer. This recipe combines the crunchiness of puff pastry with the tenderness of octopus, creating a balanced combination of textures and flavors.
The base of the baskets is made from ready-made puff pastry to save time without compromising quality. Simply cut the pastry into circles or squares, place them in muffin molds, and bake until golden to get a perfectly crispy base.
The star of this dish is the octopus, cooked and cut into pieces. You can pre-cook it in boiling water flavored with Mediterranean aromas like garlic, parsley, and black pepper. The octopus salad is prepared with fresh cherry tomatoes, black olives, capers, and parsley, dressed with extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice to enhance the sea flavors.
I daringly added parmesan flakes, arugula, and pink peppercorns.
Assembly occurs when the baskets are cool, to maintain crispiness. Fill them generously with octopus salad, creating a visual contrast between the fresh green of the vegetables and the golden color of the pastry.
For maximum flavor, make sure to use high-quality ingredients. You can further enrich the dish with a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper and some fresh basil leaves for an aromatic touch.
These puff pastry baskets with octopus salad are a sophisticated and delicious option, perfect for starting a special dinner or delighting palates during the holidays. The combination of crunchiness and sea flavor will make this appetizer an unforgettable choice for your guests.

Depending on the size of the octopus, cooking times may vary, generally in an hour it’s ready.
After cooking, remove the octopus from the pot, do not discard the water, put it in the freezer for 15 minutes to keep the skin from peeling off.

Let the salad rest a bit before putting it in the baskets to let it absorb the flavors better.
