PUFF PASTRY BASKETS WITH OCTOPUS SALAD, parmesan shavings and arugula, an enticing starter for a fish-based menu, simple and good.
The puff pastry baskets with octopus salad are a refined and tasty culinary option, perfect for those who wish to impress guests with an original appetizer. This recipe combines the crispness of the pastry with the delicacy of the octopus, creating a balanced mix of textures and flavors.
The base of the baskets is made from ready-made puff pastry to save time without compromising on quality. Just cut the pastry into circles or squares, place them in muffin molds, and bake until golden to achieve a perfectly crispy base.
The star of this dish is the octopus, cooked and cut into pieces. You can previously cook it in boiling water flavored with Mediterranean herbs like garlic, parsley, and black pepper. The octopus salad is prepared with fresh cherry tomatoes, black olives, capers, and parsley, dressed with extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice to enhance the marine flavors.
I ventured to add parmesan shavings, arugula, and pink peppercorns.
Assemble when the baskets are cool to maintain the crispness. Generously fill them with the octopus salad, creating a visual contrast between the fresh green of the vegetables and the golden color of the pastry.
For maximum flavor, make sure to use high-quality ingredients. You can further enrich the dish with a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper and a few fresh basil leaves for an aromatic touch.
These puff pastry baskets with octopus salad are a sophisticated and delicious option, perfect for starting a special dinner or delighting palates during the holidays. The combination of crunchiness and marine flavor will make this appetizer an unforgettable choice for your guests.

Clean the octopus, emptying the head, removing the eyes and beak, wash it thoroughly then bring water to a boil.

Depending on the size of the octopus, cooking times may vary, generally, in about an hour it’s ready.

Let the salad sit a bit before putting it in the baskets to enhance the flavor.
