Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp instant yeast for savory preparations
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp 0% fat Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 orange zest
  • 1 lemon zest

Steps

  • Pour the flour into a bowl, add the yeast and sugar, mix then add the egg, yogurt, and grated lemon and orange zest, and knead well.

  • The dough should be smooth and homogeneous and not sticky, then divide it into 11-12 pieces.

  • Make little logs and then close them by overlapping the ends.

  • Heat the oil in a pan and fry the doughnuts, turning them over, then drain and roll them in sugar.

Very good with instant yeast, but you can use fresh yeast if you prefer and let it rest until doubled, excellent with yogurt but you can use butter or ricotta or oil in the dough.
