RUSTIC PARISIAN SAVORY PIE with ground beef, a delicious and tasty recipe perfect for lunch, dinner, great to take to the beach or for an outdoor picnic.
I needed to make a recipe that everyone would agree on, something practical for dinner but that could also be taken to the beach or on a trip. So I thought of a nice rustic Parisian savory pie, stuffed with ground beef, cooked ham, and lots of melted provolone cheese. A mix of flavors that always pleases, enclosed between two layers of goodness: ready puff pastry on top and ready pizza dough below.
A clever and very easy recipe to make, perfect if you have little time but want to prepare something tasty. This savory pie with meat is also ideal to serve sliced for a cold buffet, a house party, or an outdoor picnic. The filling stays soft and flavorful, and you can enrich it with what you have in the fridge: grilled vegetables, cheeses, cold cuts.
You can enjoy it hot right out of the oven or cold the next day: it will be even better!
In short, if you are looking for a savory pie with puff pastry and pizza dough, filled with ground beef, cheese, and cold cuts, this version is a must-try!

Steps
If you prefer, you can prepare the dough by hand following this recipe.
In a pan, heat the oil with the garlic (or chopped onion), add the ground beef and brown it. Add the tomato sauce, salt, and basil leaves. Cook over low heat for about 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens. Let it cool slightly.
Roll out the pizza dough in a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Fill with the cooked meat and spread the filling evenly.
Add to the filling the cooked ham cut into pieces and the cubed provolone (if very fresh, pat it first with kitchen paper to remove moisture).
Cover with the puff pastry, seal the edges and brush the surface with egg or milk.
Bake in a static oven at 392°F for 30-35 minutes, until golden and hot inside, or split everything in half and cook in an air fryer at 356°F for about 25 minutes.
