SAVORY PUFF PASTRY SHELLS WITH SPECK AND PROVOLA appetizer for parties and buffets, a tasty idea also for the next Christmas.
Delicious savory puff pastry shells stuffed with speck and provola, prepared quickly, baked and enjoyed, they can be eaten one after another and are loved even by children.
The recipe for savory puff pastry shells is very simple, using rectangular or round puff pastry that’s available at home, fill with the stuffing, close and decorate them like shells.
Of course, they can be stuffed with other ingredients, great with ham, mortadella, ricotta, tuna, and tomatoes, zucchini or eggplant, whatever you have at home.
If you don’t have puff pastry or don’t prefer it, you can always use ready-made or homemade shortcrust pastry or prepare a simple dough of water and flour.
It’s been more than a week that I can only find round puff pastry at the supermarket or gluten-free, a real nuisance, I prefer the rectangular one, hope it arrives soon.

Preparation
I used a round pastry, rectangular is also fine.
Remove the pastry from the fridge at least 15 minutes before using it and place on the work surface.
Cut it with a 4-inch cutter, fill half with speck and provola, then close into a shell shape.
Make diagonal cuts on the pastry, brush with egg yolk and bake in a preheated oven at 390°F.
Bake for about 15 minutes.
