These savory savarins are super delicious and tasty donuts or rings that are prepared in a short time, baked and stuffed, prepared with a simple mixture of flour, water, eggs, and instant yeast, and despite being without leavening, they are very soft.
Once baked, they are cut and stuffed with ricotta and cooked ham but the savory savarins are very versatile and you can stuff them as you like, also great with zucchini and provola cheese or with a nice slice of eggplant parmigiana.

Ingredients
- 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup ricotta
- 6 slices cooked ham
Steps
Prepare the base dough, pour the flour and yeast into the mixer, then add the egg and salt, work until you get a homogeneous mixture.
The dough must be firm and not mushy or too sticky, if needed add a little flour or water as necessary.
Then divide the dough into pieces of about 2 oz each, make cylinders and close them into a donut shape.
Place the donuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 350°F in a preheated oven, until golden, about 15 minutes.
Once baked, remove the savarins from the oven, let them cool slightly, then cut them in half.
Mix the ricotta with a bit of salt and the ham cut into pieces.
Stuff the donuts and close them by pairing them.
Decorate with basil leaves.
