Sfogliatelle with blue cream
  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very cheap
  • Preparation time: 20 Minutes
  • Portions: 6-8
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 1 puff pastry
  • 4.4 oz custard
  • to taste food coloring (blue)

Steps

  • Prepare the custard following the recipe HERE then put it in a bowl covered with cling film and let it cool.

  • Remove the pastry from the fridge 10 minutes before using and cut out an even number of circles.

  • Remove the cream from the fridge and add a few drops of coloring, I used a gel coloring, therefore not exactly liquid, it would have been better in powder but at home I only had that.

  • Try the coloring you prefer, obviously keep in mind that the cream is yellow so with blue it tends to green, a few more drops will be needed.

  • Once you get the preferred shade, fill half of the sfogliatelle, close with the other half, seal the edges, and bake in a hot oven at 375°F for about 12 minutes.

  • If needed, turn them and bake a little more on the bottom, remove from the oven and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

    Bon appétit
