Epiphany Sugared Doughnuts

  • 1 tsp fresh yeast

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • to taste lemon zest
  • 1 pinch vanillin
  • 2 tbsps chocolate chips
  • 3 1/2 tbsps butter

Steps

  • Dissolve the yeast in the milk and pour it into a bowl, add the flour, sugar, vanillin, lemon zest, egg, butter in pieces and mix.

  • Add the chocolate chips and finish kneading, make a ball and let it rise in a bowl covered with plastic wrap and let it rest until it doubles, about 4 hours.

  • After rising, divide the dough into 4 pieces, make rolls and close them into rings, let them rest for 20 minutes, then heat the oil in the fryer and cook the doughnuts.

  • Let them absorb on kitchen paper and roll them in sugar.
