The President of the United States’ dish:
A type of budae-jjigae typical of Seoul is called Johnsontang (존슨탕; “Johnson soup”) and is named after President of the United States Lyndon B. Johnson, who is said to have enjoyed the dish during his visit to South Korea in 1966.
The restaurant where Johnson reportedly ate the dish, Bada Sikdang, still serves Johnsontang as a signature dish.
It was also reportedly served to Jimmy Carter during his visit in 1979, resulting in its less common alternate name Cartertang.
