Fish and Chips Butty (Great Britain)

The Fish and Chips Butty is a sandwich with french fries and sauce (chips butty) , here in the “fish and chips” variant with battered and fried cod and a pea and Greek yogurt sauce.

Typical of British cuisine, “fish and chips” features a battered white fish fillet (usually cod) (the Irish version includes beer in the batter) and fried, accompanied by thick, also fried potatoes.

It is usually served with a sprinkle of salt and malt vinegar and also accompanied by dishes like boiled peas reduced to a lumpy mash.

▶Until the 1980s, it was served in newspaper sheets, now replaced with kitchen paper, often decorated with typical newspaper writing to recreate the image of the past.

▶One of the few dishes not to have been rationed in the United Kingdom during the Second World War.
