*Bizcocho:
Bizcocho is a Spanish word that has different meanings in various Spanish-speaking countries.
It refers to a variety of sweets in most countries. Some are similar to croissants, others are filled pastries that can be sweet or savory. If savory, they have cheese or meat as a filling, if sweet, dulce de leche or jam.
For instance, Costa Rica has a savory version made with corn flour dough, also called masa, with cheese and spices. The dough is shaped into rings and traditionally baked in clay ovens. There is also a sweet version with sponge cake and a sauce containing condensed milk and evaporated milk, with tres leches cream.
Besides Ojitos, “bizcocho” in Uruguay often refers to a tender cake with fruit filling and a meringue-based glaze.

Quince jam can also be replaced with dulce de leche or Nutella for an “Italian” version
