CHRISTMAS TREE PUFF PASTRY

in

Here’s a tasty and very cute idea to prepare for Christmas as an appetizer or even as a snack, prepare with me the CHRISTMAS TREE PUFF PASTRY filled with pistachio pesto and parmesan. These delicious trees are made without using molds, you just need a sheet of puff pastry and skewers, they are prepared in five minutes and are served at the table in no time.

The puff pastry trees are the Christmas or New Year’s appetizer that cannot be missing from your table, they will be loved by adults and children alike. You can prepare them in advance and fill them as I did with pistachio pesto but also with other ingredients, they will be delicious with stracchino and salmon or with ricotta and salami.

I decorated the top with a piece of cheese cut into a star, but it is also fine to use something else, like a small ham star, made with a carrot, or something else.

  • Cooking time: 20 Minutes
  • Portions: 8
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Christmas, New Year

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet rectangular puff pastry
  • to taste pesto (I used pistachio)
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 slice cheese (I used Asiago)

Steps

  • To prepare the puff pastry trees, start with the pastry, then unroll the sheet and fill it with the pesto by spreading it well over the entire base. Also, add the grated Parmesan cheese on top.

  • Fold the base in half to create a smaller rectangle, roll over it with a rolling pin to compact it better.

With a knife, cut the long side into strips one cm wide, fold each strip to create trees, watch the video recipe to avoid mistakes, pierce the pastry with a skewer passing it from the base of the tree to the top, adjust the pastry if it has overlapped, proceed in this way with all the trees and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  • Bake in a preheated fan oven at 350/375 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes.

In the meantime, from the cheese slice, cut out stars with a small star-shaped cutter. Once the trees are cooked, place the star on the top by securing it with the skewer. Serve the Christmas trees.
