Ingredients
- 3 Golden apples (if small, 4)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 orange zest (grated)
- 2 sheets puff pastry (rectangular)
- to taste orange marmalade (apricot is also fine)
- 1 egg yolk
- to taste milk
- to taste powdered sugar
Steps
To make these delicious apple-filled pastries, start by washing the apples, peeling them, and then cutting them into pieces. Place the chopped apples in a pan with the sugar, cinnamon, and orange zest, and cook everything, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft.
Then remove the apples from the heat, take the two sheets of puff pastry, unroll them and divide them into four equal parts by making a vertical cut and then a horizontal cut. With a knife, make cuts on four squares along the outside edge, about 1.5 inches long.
Fill each pastry square by placing the marmalade and cooked apples in the center, then pull the uncut portion of the pastry over and then the cut side, closing the pastry, sealing the edges well to prevent the filling from leaking during cooking.
Place the puff pastry and apple parcels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced apart. In a bowl, thoroughly mix the egg yolk with a couple of tablespoons of milk and brush all the pastries with this mixture. Bake in a preheated fan oven at 375°F for about 20 minutes. Once cooked, let them rest for a few minutes, cover them with plenty of powdered sugar, and then serve them; they are too good and so easy to make!
