Club Mix, My Club Sandwich

The Club Mix is another “creation” of mine born from the idea of mixing (mix) different types of cuisines into a single sandwich.

The sandwich arises from the union of the American Club Sandwich (Club) with Middle Eastern cuisine through the presence of hummus, with Italian cuisine featuring our mortadella, here “crispy”, and finally a Nordic touch with smoked salmon.

You can also find the Club Mix recipe in the book: “In Cibo Veritas, Creative and Ethnic Cooking Special“.

  • Difficulty: Easy

  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes
  • Portions: 1 person
  • Cooking methods: Other
  • Cuisine: Contemporary
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 3 slices sandwich bread (crustless)
  • 2 slices mortadella
  • as needed hummus
  • 1 oz smoked salmon
  • 2 leaves lettuce (or iceberg lettuce)

Preparation of the Club Mix:

  • Place the slices of sandwich bread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (you can also brush them with butter).

Toast at 212°F for about 5 minutes or until the slices are golden: be careful not to dry them out.

Lightly crisp the slices of mortadella in a pan without oil.

    Create layers with (in order):

bread spread with hummus (for the recipe here), mortadella, another slice of bread with hummus, then the lettuce, smoked salmon, and finally the last slice of bread.

    Cut diagonally.

For a gluten-free version, you can use gluten-free sandwich bread.
