Portokalopita Greek Orange Cake is a seasonal dessert rich in juice and orange zest, very tasty and unique!
The base of this cake is made of many sheets of phyllo torn into pieces and left at room temperature to dry a little, then the whole is covered with a creamy mixture of yogurt, eggs, etc. etc.
The cake is then baked and while still warm, it is covered with syrup made of water, sugar, and cinnamon.
A delicious dessert perfect for snacks and for the whole family!

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE PORTOKALOPITA GREEK ORANGE CAKE RECIPE
Grease the mold with neutral seed oil.
Tear the phyllo sheets with your fingers and cover the entire surface of the mold.
Leave at room temperature and proceed to prepare the syrup – glaze which is a fundamental ingredient for almost all Greek desserts.
In a saucepan, put the water, sugar, orange juice, and cinnamon sticks.
Bring to a simmer for 4/5 minutes to obtain a thick and flavorful sauce.
Let it cool and start making the yogurt-based topping for the Portokalopita Greek Orange Cake.
Blend the eggs, oil, yogurt, sugar, baking powder, orange zest, and orange juice together.
Pour the mixture over the phyllo sheets which will have already dried.
Cut thin slices of an orange and decorate the cake as you like, creating geometric or fancy patterns.
Bake the Portokalopita Greek Orange Cake at 350°F for about 35 minutes or according to your oven’s characteristics.
Warm the syrup for a few seconds and pour it over the Portokalopita Greek Orange Cake.
Let it soak for a few hours or overnight, then slice and enjoy…
Enjoy your meal!
