Here is a recipe that for me is uniquely delicious, even though it is just a simple appetizer and nothing more, but the Tropea onions caramelized for their intense and unique flavor pair wonderfully with the grilled polenta, creating a truly gratifying combination!
It’s an appetizer polenta bites with caramelized onion that I will certainly make for the small New Year’s Eve buffet when I will toast with friends to the arrival of a hopefully favorable and generous new year!!!

Ingredients for POLENTA BITES WITH CARAMELIZED ONION

- 1 package ready-made polenta
- 2 Tropea onions (or other red onions)
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 ounce butter
- as needed water
- 1 pinch salt
Tools for POLENTA BITES WITH CARAMELIZED ONION
- Grill
- Knife
- Cutting Board
- Pan
- Spoon
FOR THE PREPARATION OF POLENTA BITES WITH CARAMELIZED ONION
In a preferably non-stick pan, melt the butter then add the onion cleaned and cut into thin rings.
Let it cook until almost transparent and soft, adding a little hot water if necessary.
When the onion is wilted add the brown sugar and let it dissolve over low heat, stirring to prevent the mixture from sticking.
Continue to cook, caramelizing the Tropea onion for a few minutes.Cut the block of pre-cooked polenta into slices not too thick but not too thin, about 0.39 inches for me!
Place the grill on the flame and as soon as it’s hot, place the polenta bites on it, allowing them to grill well on both sides.
Now arrange the dish by placing the grilled polenta on the serving plate with some caramelized onion slices on top.
