Baked Fishballs

The baked fishballs are fish patties that I decided to name this way because they are a bit too plump to be just patties, in my opinion, and they are also a bit flattened!

Today, I’m offering you these fish patties that have been a great success at home.

Initially, I intended to make them round and then flattened them a bit because I liked them more that way, so even though fishballs stand for fish balls, they are not that round, but that’s fine, don’t you think?

Moreover, they are light because they are baked and not fried, but you can easily fry them if you want!

The important thing is that they are tasty and successful at the table, but you can be really sure of that, they will be a hit!

Try making this recipe yourself, and if you make this or any of my other recipes, send me the photos; I will publish them on my page with your name.

Baked Fishballs
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Preparation time: 30 Minutes
  • Portions: 11 fishballs
  • Cooking methods: Electric oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients for making Baked Fishballs

  • 1.5 cups potatoes (peeled weight)
  • 1.5 lbs cod fillet
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 bunch parsley
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg (medium)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1.5 cups breadcrumbs

Preparation of Baked Fishballs

  • First, peel the potatoes, wash them and boil them.

In the meantime, take the frozen fish fillet and immerse it in a pan of boiling water, cook for 2 minutes and drain it.

Once everything is cooked and drained, place the potatoes and cod into the food processor, add the washed and dried parsley, salt, egg, oil, garlic, and blend everything.

Even if there are some pieces left, that’s fine, it doesn’t need to be a mush.

  • Once blended, transfer the mixture into a bowl, add the flour and mix well.

In a container, put the breadcrumbs, then form balls with the fish-based mixture, roll them in the breadcrumbs, round them with your hands, and then flatten them a bit.

  • Arrange the obtained balls on a baking tray with a drizzle of oil, then put a drizzle of oil on the surface of the fishballs and bake in a preheated oven at 425°F for about 30 minutes, checking the cooking.
