Stuffed Puff Pastry Christmas Trees

Stuffed puff pastry Christmas trees are a simple, quick, and super scenic idea to bring to the table a last-minute Christmas dessert that will captivate both adults and children.
Perfect for celebrations, a Christmas buffet, or as a last-minute dessert, these treats combine the crunchiness of puff pastry with a delicious filling that immediately evokes the scent of Christmas.
They are ideal when time is short but you don’t want to miss out on something homemade, few ingredients, zero rising, and guaranteed results.
As you know, I am not a big fan of puff pastry, I much prefer leavened doughs, but in this case, I admit it is the best choice.
Puff pastry is practical, quick, and easy to manage, it has a uniform thickness and does not require resting times, making it perfect for quick recipes like this.
To make these treats, I used a Christmas tree-shaped cookie cutter, perfect for evoking the Christmas atmosphere, but if you don’t have it, don’t worry, you can safely opt for stars, hearts, or simple squares, still achieving a delicious and festive result.
The filling? I chose Nutella, a classic favorite, but you can personalize the puff pastry trees with pistachio cream, jam, custard, or Christmas preserves.
The variations are endless and all irresistible.
Sure, between puff pastry and Nutella, the calories are not lacking, but let’s face it, at Christmas it’s really difficult, if not impossible, to stick to a diet.
Between lunches, dinners, and traditional sweets, indulging in a few guilty pleasures is part of the magic of the holidays.
What do you think, did you like the idea?
Then you just have to prepare these stuffed puff pastry Christmas trees, following the recipe step by step: I assure you they will be a hit!

Ingredients for Stuffed Puff Pastry Christmas Trees

  • 2 sheets puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 3.5 oz Nutella®
  • green sugar balls
  • edible glue
  • 21 toothpicks
  • 1 egg yolk
  • a little water

Tools

  • 1 Cookie Cutter Christmas tree-shaped cutter

Preparation of Stuffed Puff Pastry Christmas Trees

  • Unroll the first puff pastry sheet, spread Nutella over the entire surface, unroll the second sheet and place it over the Nutella.

  • Using the tree-shaped cutter, cut out shapes and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper… if you arrange them correctly, trying not to leave too much space between each shape, you will have very little waste.
With the leftover scraps, I made small pieces and placed them on another tray and baked them.
Brush the trees with the yolk and a drop of water mixture, then bake them in a preheated oven at 392°F for about 10 minutes.

  • Once baked and slightly cooled, decorate them by placing green sugar balls using edible glue to make them stick and not move.
Insert the toothpicks at the base of the trees and our treats will be ready. If desired, the toothpicks can be inserted even before baking.
