The 5-Minute Nutella Cake is a simple yet extremely indulgent dessert thanks to the presence of the world’s most famous hazelnut cream. If you don’t like Nutella, you can easily replace it with another hazelnut cream of your choice. I had a jar nearing its expiration date in the pantry, so I thought of using it in a dessert.

You can garnish it as I did or fill it with whipped cream, chantilly cream, or eggless mascarpone cream.

As I wrote some time ago, when talking about Nutella, one thinks of heavy desserts with a high concentration of fats and sugars. However, by properly balancing all the ingredients, you get a perfect, cloud-soft dough that is just the right sweetness. The trick? None, just reduce the oil and sugar in the recipe with simple balancing.

If you love Nutella, also try the Nutella brioche star, it is not only very good but also a scenic dessert perfect for parties.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup peanut oil
  • 2/3 cup Nutella®
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (or other flavor of your choice)
  • 2 teaspoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons sweetened cocoa powder
  • 2/3 cup Nutella®
  • as needed chocolate sprinkles

Tools

  • 2 Bowls
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Pan 9-inch springform
  • 1 Scale

Procedure

  • Crack the eggs and place them in a bowl; add the milk, oil, vanilla extract, and sugar. Mix everything with a whisk to blend well and dissolve the sugar. Incorporate the Nutella.

In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa, and baking powder. Pour the liquid ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients and mix vigorously with a whisk for a few seconds until the batter is uniform and lump-free.

  • Butter and dust with sweetened cocoa a 9-inch pan, pour in the batter and bake the cake for 40 minutes at 350°F. Always perform the toothpick test to check for doneness.

The 5-Minute Nutella Cake is ready; let it cool slightly before removing it from the pan. Place it on a serving plate and let it cool completely.

To garnish, slightly warm 2/3 cup of Nutella in the microwave and spread it over the surface using a spoon. Decorate the edge with chocolate sprinkles.

Advice

The 5-Minute Nutella Cake keeps for 3/4 days under a glass cake dome.

If filled with creams or whipped cream, store it in the refrigerator.
