It’s a recipe that doesn’t require many steps and, in the end, is made entirely with ready-to-use ingredients. During the busy holiday season, a bit of organization never hurts, but in this case, we’re really talking about products that are largely already in our refrigerators and pantries. In fact, it’s quite practical for me to always have them on hand since I’m often away for work, and my recipes can often be prepared in advance. Below, I’ll leave you with some easy and delicious holiday ideas, and at the end of the recipe, I’ll answer the most frequently asked questions.

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very cheap
  • Rest time: 10 Minutes
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 9 people
  • Cooking methods: Electric oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Christmas

Ingredients

  • 2 rolls puff pastry (round)
  • 4.23 oz cream cheese
  • 3.53 oz smoked salmon (preferably diced)
  • 1 egg (for brushing)
  • as needed chives (fresh or dried)
  • as needed sesame seeds

Tools

  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Wheel cutter
  • 1 Brush
  • 1 Glass

Instructions

  • To make the Puff Pastry Star with Cream Cheese and Salmon, first unroll the first round base of puff pastry.

  • Spread the chosen cream cheese with a spatula, leaving about 3/4 inch on the edges.

  • Spread some chives evenly over the cheese.

  • For this recipe, I chose to use salmon already cut into cubes. It doesn’t matter if you find it in slices, the important thing is to cut it and then garnish the puff pastry base, placing it all around.

  • This is an example of how I did it.

  • Cover the filled base with the second roll of puff pastry, making sure it adheres well and overlaps all the edges.

  • Use a glass to find the center of the puff pastry circle and press lightly to leave an impression.

  • Divide the circle first into 4 large wedges and then divide each wedge in half. Again, divide each slice in half this time stopping about 0.4 inches from the impression created with the glass.

  • Roll the tips two by two onto themselves, joining the tips and proceeding to the end of the tips.

  • The base of the star is ready.

  • Brush it with the beaten egg in a large cup over the entire surface.

  • Sprinkle some chives again.

  • And finally, distribute the sesame seeds.

  • Bake in a preheated ventilated oven at 383°F for 35 minutes or until fully golden.

Let it cool before serving. Also ideal as a delightful Christmas centerpiece.
