Rustic Puff Pastry Trees

The rustic puff pastry trees are one of those bites that need no lengthy introductions.
You look at them and immediately understand that they’re meant to be shared… a simple recipe, the kind you prepare without posing, but that still brings a smile to the table.
Puff pastry, when well-cooked, is always impressive, golden, flaky, with that crunch that invites a bite.
Here it meets two clear-tasting ingredients, Hungarian salami, with a bold flavor, and provolone, which melts without being excessive.
The tree shape makes them perfect for the holidays, of course, but that’s not what defines them.
In reality, they are appetizers to always keep in mind for an impromptu aperitif, quick appetizer, savory snack when someone arrives, and you want to prepare something tasty without spending half a day.
Just a few steps, well-rolled pastry, slices of salami, the provolone, cut, and skewer them.
This recipe enhances simplicity, there’s no need to cover flavors or complicate things.
It’s a dish that pairs well with a glass of light red wine or a cold light beer, and it suits any table, whether for a family dinner or a buffet with friends.
Sometimes we forget that good cooking is born just like this, with a few well-done things.
As you can see from the photos, I used smoked provolone to slice, it was a purchasing mistake, but using pre-sliced, you’ll see it’s better.
