  • To make these delicious fake puff pastry croissants with Nutella, first, you need to prepare the fake puff pastry, which is as good as regular puff pastry but much simpler. Let’s see how to make it 😉

Sift the flour into a bowl, add the salt, and mix.

Now add the cream cheese and the butter cut into pieces.

Using a spatula, or a fork or your fingers, mix everything together but DO NOT KNEAD.

You should obtain crumbs roughly the same size. Do not handle the mixture too much; it should not warm up.

Transfer the crumbs onto cling film and try to shape it into a rectangle (use the cling film to help) with a height of about 3/4 inch.

Place the mixture in the fridge for a couple of hours. (You can even leave it until the next day).

After the resting time, place the dough on a floured surface and do a simple 3-turn fold.

Wrap it again in the cling film and place it back in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Retrieve the dough and do another 3-turn fold.

Wrap it again in cling film and place it back in the fridge for another 30 minutes. After resting, retrieve the dough and do a final 3-turn fold.

Our dough, which initially appeared crumbly, will magically become uniform and smooth.

Take the dough out of the fridge and roll it into a rectangle.

Prick the dough with a fork and spread Nutella over the entire surface.

Cut the dough into triangles for the croissants.

Make sure the puff pastry is fresh and firm; if not, transfer it to a cutting board and place it in the fridge for at least 20 minutes, otherwise, the croissants will come out crooked.

Finally, roll each triangle onto itself.

Make all your croissants this way.

Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

Bake in a preheated oven at 390°F for about 15 – 20 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool completely. Dust with a bit of powdered sugar.
