Ingredients

  • 1 roll puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 3.5 oz pistachio cream
  • to taste vanilla powdered sugar
  • to taste pistachio cream (or hazelnut cream)

Tools

  • 1 Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Toothpick

Procedure

  • Preparing the twisted hearts is really very easy, let’s see how.

    Unroll the puff pastry roll.

    Spread half of the pastry (long side) with a generous layer of pistachio cream and cover it by folding over the empty part.

  • Place the pastry in the fridge for 10 minutes (this will allow the pistachio cream to cool and you will work better).
    Take it out of the fridge, place it on the work surface, and cut 10 strips of the same size.

  • Twist each strip around itself to form a heart shape. Secure the two ends with a toothpick so they don’t lose shape while baking.

  • Place the hearts on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated static oven at 392°F for 13/14 minutes or until golden brown.

    Remove the baking sheet from the oven, let them cool a bit, and gently remove the toothpicks.

    The puff pastry twisted hearts with pistachio are ready, dust them with powdered sugar and decorate with a little pistachio or hazelnut cream.
