INGREDIENTS FOR CANDIED ORANGE ZESTS

  • 7 oz orange peel
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar

Tools

  • 1 Saucepan

PREPARATION OF CANDIED ORANGE ZESTS

Cut the orange peels to your preferred size: strips, thicker stripes, or whole peels.

  • Place the peels in a bowl and cover with plenty of water to fully submerge them.

  • Leave to soak for 5 days at room temperature without covering.
This helps to remove the bitterness from the peels.

  • Drain the peels, weigh them, and place them in a large saucepan.
Add equal weight of water and sugar.

  • Simmer gently for about 15/20 minutes until the syrup evaporates and the orange peels are shiny and caramelized!

  • Spread the zests well-spaced on a tray and let dry for about 1 hour.
