ONION POWDER AROMA FOR MANY PREPARATIONS

Today I present you onion powder, a simple and unique preparation that can often serve as a seasoning for many dishes. It adds aroma and is rich in the nutritional properties of onion.

You can use this preparation like raw onion: in salads, on bruschetta, on meat and fish, in omelets, soups, stews, and creamy soups.

You can use the variety of onions you prefer, depending on the aroma you want to achieve: golden, white, and red. Onion is one of those ingredients that should never be missing in the kitchen.

ONION POWDER INGREDIENTS

  • 2.2 lbs white onions
  • to taste salt (optional)

Tools

  • 1 Dehydrator
  • 1 Oven

ONION POWDER PREPARATION

Clean all the onions.

  • Thinly slice (with a mandoline or slicer) and “cook” on a baking sheet in the oven at 250°F for about 2 hours.

  • Alternatively, you can use the dehydrator at 140°F for about 10 hours.

  • When all the onions are well dried and crispy, let cool and then you can crumble by hand or blend with a mixer to obtain a fine powder. If desired, you can add a pinch of salt.

  • Store the precious powder in a sterilized glass container.
