PUFF PASTRY CANNOLI INGREDIENTS
- 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp water
- 1.25 cups custard (or another cream of your choice)
Tools
- 10 Cannoli Molds
PUFF PASTRY CANNOLI PREPARATION
Unroll the rectangular puff pastry.
Using a pastry cutter or a sharp knife, make strips about an inch wide. For the length, use the short side.
Roll the strips around the cylinders that you have oiled, or you can use my cake release. While rolling, slightly overlap the dough.
Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush them with the water in which you have added a tablespoon of sugar.
Sprinkle the cannoli first with the sugar and then with the powdered sugar.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for about 15 minutes.
Once cooled, gently remove them from the parchment paper.
Prepare the cream of your choice. I used the classic custard flavored with orange. Let the cream cool. Fill a piping bag with the custard.
One at a time, finally, fill the cannoli with cream and place them on a tray. Let them rest for at least half an hour before serving.
Finish with a light dusting of powdered sugar.
Adriana’s Advice
Do not fill them too long in advance, otherwise the puff pastry will lose its crispness.
