- 2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1 medium egg
- 1 medium egg yolk
- 1 1/4 cups Powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder
- as needed Ladyfingers (to separate layers)
- 1 pinch Salt
- 2 cups Milk (whole milk, high quality)
- 1 pod Vanilla

PREPARATION OF THE RECIPE English trifle tart with ladyfingers
• To make the shortcrust pastry, put the cold butter in small pieces, salt, and the amount of flour in a bowl.
Add the baking powder and start rubbing with your fingertips to get crumbs (sanding).
Then add the egg beaten with sugar and start kneading everything. When the mix appears homogeneous, make a dough ball by compacting it well without working it too much.

Wrap it in plastic wrap and leave it in the refrigerator to rest for at least 30 minutes.
In the meantime, prepare the pastry cream by starting to heat the milk with the vanilla pod.
Mix eggs with sugar and then add the flour.
Pour over this kind of cream the HOT MILK and after mixing well, return to moderate heat and always stirring, thicken the pastry cream.
Divide the cream into two parts and add to one of them the COCOA powder, blending everything well. Butter and flour the pan and proceed to compose the English trifle tart with ladyfingers.
Roll out the shortcrust pastry with the rolling pin and line the pan by going up the edges of the tray.
Pour on the bottom the classic pastry cream then place the ladyfingers soaked in the mix of ALCHERMES, sugar, and water.
Now pour the chocolate cream leveling everything well.
Cover the English trifle tart well with the remaining shortcrust pastry sealing the edges well.
Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for about 40/45 minutes or depending on the characteristics of your oven.
