The fruit and cream cup is a kind of eat and drink that you can adapt to the firm, ripe fruit you find at the market or supermarket, and it’s also an idea for a quick and delicious sweet break at lunchtime!
It’s a recipe with vague quantities in the sense that they will depend on the cup, the container, and that you can clearly vary by putting more whipped cream than custard or vice versa!
The base of my fruit cup with custard and cream is a sponge cake cut into cubes, but if you don’t have it maybe in the freezer and don’t feel like making it at the moment, you can use some ladyfingers broken into pieces or the leftover of your breakfast bundt cake.
I didn’t have the yellow eggs to make the custard, but if you use them, the effect will be more wowwww because the yellow will explode from the glass eh eh!
You can make the mixed fruit and cream cup alcoholic by slightly soaking the sponge cake cubes with rum, but since it’s hot, maybe it’s better to leave the alcohol for wintertime.
Instead of putting pieces of mixed fruit, you can opt for a single type of fruit, maybe strawberries or just peaches or …. have fun making the delicious cup of fruit, cream, and custard according to your tastes.
A tip: don’t make it too far in advance because then the custard in the fridge hardens too much (blend it if necessary) and the whipped cream leaves a bit of water and … no, it’s not good!
You can change the cake base used at the bottom of the glass: instead of the sponge cake, put some pieces of ladyfinger, but you can also use a leftover of the classic bundt cake from breakfast the day before…
If you want a more summery preparation, instead of the classic custard with a spoon put a big scoop of vanilla ice cream or yogurt ice cream … and then you have to run to serve the dessert immediately!!!!!!
So here is the microwave custard recipe that might help …
MICROWAVE CUSTARD
Note: The cooking time indicated is for custard prepared in the microwave … if you only want to use cream, the time is clearly LESS!
HOW TO FIX TOO LIQUID CUSTARD?Simply dissolve a little cornstarch in water and mix it into the slightly dense custard and continue cooking for a few minutes over moderate heat.
HOW TO FIX TOO HARD CUSTARD?Much more simply, gradually add and mix with a whisk a little liquid such as warm milk and it’s done!

FRUIT AND CREAM CUP
ASI’s Kitchen
- Difficulty: Very easy
- Cost: Economical
- Preparation time: 20 Minutes
- Portions: 4 people
- Cooking methods: Microwave
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- as needed sponge cake (or ladyfingers)
- as needed mixed seasonal fruit (for me raspberries, blueberries, peaches)
- as needed custard
- as needed whipped cream
- as needed mint
Preparation
For the cream and fruit cup, wash the chosen fruit and cut it into pieces.
Prepare the custard in the classic way or in the microwave and here are the two recipes:
Whip the cream, even the vegetable one, and proceed to assemble the glass or rather the cream and fruit cup.
At the bottom, put some pieces of sponge cake, then add the washed and patted dry chosen fruit with kitchen paper.
Now pour the custard and finally a big spoonful of whipped cream.
Decorate with more fruit (for me blueberries and raspberries) and a fresh mint leaf.
A cool and delicious cup for a delightful sweet break…
Enjoy your meal!
