SAVORY FLOWER CAKE with mousse

And after a somewhat challenging appetizer to make, here is a quick and tasty preparation for those who have little time to spend in the kitchen but want tasty homemade recipes!

The savory flower cake with mousse is made with 2 packages of ready-made pizza bases (today I picked those from Coop) and for the filling, I prepared in 5 seconds a tasty ham and cooking cream mousse that was left in the fridge from a previous recipe.

If you happen to have some turkey breast in the kitchen, you can choose this deli meat if you want another more flavorful filling; you can blend cow ricotta and Milano salami … or try according to your personal taste that wins over everything!!!

SAVORY FLOWER CAKE WITH MOUSSE

Savory flower cake with mousse
  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Rest time: 5 Minutes
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 9-inch PAN
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients RECIPE SAVORY FLOWER CAKE WITH MOUSSE

  • 2 packages ready-made pizza base (for me Coop)
  • 2.8 oz cooked ham
  • 2 tbsp cooking cream
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE SAVORY FLOWER CAKE WITH MOUSSE

  • In the mixer, we put the slightly chopped cooked ham slices and start the blades.

As soon as the deli meat has softened a bit, we add the cooking cream and season with salt and pepper.

I added about 2 and a half tablespoons but adjust to obtain a mousse that is not too fluid but not too solid either!

  • We unroll the bases and with the help of a glass make many small circles: mine had a diameter of 2.75 inches.

Inside the circle, put a bit of cooked ham mousse then fold into a half-moon and then join two ends as seen in the photo.

  • Continue making petals filled with cooked ham mousse arranging them in a circle in the baking pan lined with parchment paper.

In the center, to prevent some pizza flowers from moving, place … the glass you used to make the petals or another object to prevent it from expanding and changing the flower arrangement.

  • Brush the savory flower cake with mousse with a little EVO oil then bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for 35 to 40 minutes or depending on your oven’s characteristics.

The savory cake filled with cooked ham should gradually brown and cook well…

  • Before serving, I filled the central hole with salami slices first folded in half and then rolled on themselves but you can also put a small bowl with a dip like ketchup to dip the petals…

    Enjoy your meal!

P.S. I wanted to make this savory cake for a long time but always postponed it. After seeing a similar one on Cipiacecucinare… here it is on the blog!
