Air Fryer Gratinated Fennel

Air fryer gratinated fennel, a new version of my gratinated fennel recipe, even simpler and faster. Fennel is known to be among the most appreciated ingredients, especially during the holidays, for its versatility and lightness. Cooked or raw, they are essential as a side dish on the table because you can season them as you prefer. Now, with air fryer cooking, they are even quicker to prepare. The only caution? Slice them thinly enough. A mandoline is not necessary, a sharp knife will suffice. Below, I leave you some ideas with fennel as the star of our recipes, and at the end of the description, I answer the most common questions about this food. I also provide the oven cooking method to have cooking alternatives.

  • 3.5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste fine salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 2/3 cup breadcrumbs

Tools

  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Towel
  • 1 Air Fryer Paper
  • 1 Air Fryer
  • 1 Fork
  • 1 Small Bowl

Steps

  • To make Air Fryer Gratinated Fennel, first remove the stem and the darker core along with the tougher outer parts. Above I left you a recipe to use these parts. Slice the fennel into thin slices about 3/8 inch thick and wash them under cold running water.

  • In a small bowl, mix oil, salt, and pepper well with a fork. Immerse the fennel and drain the excess oil.

  • Coat the fennel in breadcrumbs and repeat the process until the slices are finished. Arrange them in the air fryer basket lined with the appropriate parchment paper and cook at 350°F for 8-10 minutes depending on the crispiness you desire. You can also increase the cooking times.

  • Fennel should be enjoyed hot or warm, and given their quick preparation, there’s no need to make them in advance. However, if you want to give yourself a little advantage, you can slice them beforehand and leave them immersed in a bowl of lemon water covered with a towel.
