Chicken Nuggets with Turmeric Coating in Air Fryer

Chicken nuggets with turmeric coating in an air fryer, perfect to pair with a creamy yogurt sauce or an homemade mayonnaise that’s quick and easy. To make these nuggets, I chose ground chicken to try to replicate the delicious taste of store-bought ones, but I also added lemon zest, specifically finely grated organic lemon peel, its juice, and turmeric breadcrumbs that can be easily found on the market.

Below I leave some chicken recipe ideas suitable for all ages, and further down in the recipe, I address the most common questions.

  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Very Cheap
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 12 pieces
  • Cooking methods: Air Frying
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 14 oz ground chicken
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (with turmeric, plus extra for coating)
  • lemon juice (half a lemon)
  • 1 egg
  • to taste fine salt
  • 1 to taste lemon (organic)
  • to taste sunflower oil (ideal for air frying)

Tools

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Small Bowl
  • 1 Grater
  • 1 Air Fryer Paper
  • 1 Air Fryer
  • 1 Citrus Juicer

Steps

  • To make the Chicken Nuggets with Turmeric Coating in Air Fryer, first place the ground chicken in the bowl. Add the grated lemon zest, salt, juice of half a lemon, and the egg.

  • Mix the ingredients to obtain a very homogeneous dough. If it’s too soft and sticky, you can add more breadcrumbs or, if you like, some grated cheese. Once the dough is nice and firm, shape the nuggets as desired and dip them into the small bowl with breadcrumbs. No need to add other ingredients, just gently press each nugget piece into the breadcrumbs to adhere well.

  • Arrange the nuggets in the air fryer basket, spaced apart, and sprinkle them with a little sunflower oil without overdoing it. Cook at 356°F in oven mode for a time ranging from 20 to 25 minutes, depending on the size of our bites. They should remain quite tender.

  • Serve the nuggets hot or warm, accompanied by a fresh valerian and radicchio salad or roasted potatoes. They can also be prepared in advance, resting them raw in the refrigerator and cooking them when needed, or freezing them, raw, spaced on a tray or cooked in convenient disposable freezer bags.

Absolutely, if you still want to give a slightly spicy flavor, you can add turmeric powder at the moment, just a little will suffice.

If you have no lactose issues, you can use 60 g of cow’s milk, or the equivalent weight of rice milk.
